USA Archery and NFAA Basic and Intermediate Certifications
First steps to becoming a certified archery coach!
Basic Instructor - Level 1
The NAA Level 1 - Basic Instructor Certification Course is designed for camp, youth organizations or other short-term program instructors. This certification level meets the needs of summer camp personnel, 4-H leaders, BSA, GSA, JOAD Instructors, or school teachers. This is a 12-hour course.
You do not have to be an archer or own archery equipment to take this course, an introduction to the sport of archery, basic shooting technique, and all equipment is provided. You must be at least in the year of your 15th birthday. You'll learn how to set up and operate a safe short-term archery program, how to teach new archers, how to maintain your equipment, and how to create fun games for your new archers.
Intermediate Instructor - Level 2
If you are already a Basic Certified instructor, or if you have at least 6 months experience in the sport, you can attend a 16-hour Intermediate Certification course taught by an advanced coach of either USA Archery of National Field Archery Association. The NAA Intermediate Instructor Certification Course is designed for preparing instructors and directors of archery programs including ACA camps, Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), 4-H and other archery club programs.
This is 30 hour certification course. Participants must have held a Basic Certification for a minimum of one year or have at least six months experience in the sport, be at least 18 years of age, and be a member of USAA or NFAA (application for membership can be made at the class). This great experience will teach you to conduct intermediate archery classes for individual archers, groups or clubs; and teach you how to teach a Basic Certification course on your own. Participants must be age 18 or older.
